Obverse: Within laurel wreathed rim border, conjoined busts, left, of Emperor Franz Jos. I , and Wilhelm II . I . R., 1. K•GoeTz to right of Wilhelm's neck.

Reverse: German and Austrian warriors, singing a song enthusiastically, edelweiss sprigs in rifle and caps. In border, "Ich hatt' einen Kameraden einen besseren findst du nit —1914" (I had a comrade, you can not find a better one). 1914 in exergue.

Obverse: Muled portraits, with different uniforms of Emperor William II and Emperor Franz Joseph I, 1. within pearled rim.

Reverse: Double cyphers, W II and F J I, bisected by upward pointing sword and surmounted by a crown and entwined by a scroll, inscribed, "Gott mit uns" (God with us) and "Viribus Unitis" (By joined forces). The whole is surrounded by branches of laurel. Legend, "Weltkrieg" (world war), below, 1914.
