1914, Cast bronze, Commemorative medallion, 107.0mm, 304.90g, Frankenhuis 613.

 

Obverse:  A German Shepherd head, left, with Red Cross badge on collar and ID tag, In border, "Im dienste des Weltkrieges 1914" (On duty during the world war). Incuse "K•GOETZ" at base of neck. 

 

Reverse:  Two soldiers, under the watchful eye of the dog, carry a wounded comrade to a first aid station. Legend, "Erstmalige Verwendung der Sanitats-hunde" (Red Cross Dogs utilized for the first time).
